The Role

We are seeking motivated, innovative and patient-care orientated  Registered Nurses/Scrub Scouts who have demonstrated Ophthalmology theatre experience, and want to be part of our friendly and supportive perioperative team. 

Epworth Geelong has opened seven theatres , including a Hybrid Theatre, and our perioperative services also includes a day surgery (DOSA), Cardiac Catheter Laboratory and Endoscopy suite.  

There is future scope to grow to 11 theatres as determined by demand, and theatre Robotics will be commissioned during 2018. Our theatres provide excellent care to patients of Orthopaedic, General, Neurosurgery, Colorectal, Gynaecological, ENT, Ophthalmology, Oral Maxillofacial, Plastics, Urology, Vascular, and Thoracic surgical procedures, in addition to an Obstetric service. 

This is a great opportunity for perioperative scrub/scout registered nurses with demonstrated Ophthalmology experience to join a committed theatre team.  

Key areas of focus for this role include:

  • Delivering an exceptional patient experience within perioperative services
  • Ensuring patient flow is managed whilst providing high standards of patient care
  • Role-modelling empathy to patients, families and surgeons  

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Possess current nursing registration with AHPRA
  • Have a contemporary knowledge of best practice in Ophthalmology procedures and the patient journey
  • Be highly accountable and demonstrate a strong, supportive and engaging style
  • Be passionate about patient care and achieving high quality clinical outcomes
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and a collaborative approach 

A post graduate qualification in perioperative nursing is desirable.
