A unique opportunity exists to join I-MED Radiology Network, Australia’s largest private Diagnostic Imaging provider in a National role as Medical Physicist and Radiation Safety Manager.

 

Forming part of the quality and safety team you will hold national responsibility and work with radiation safety officers across the business in providing services for approximately 200 imaging practices, including both radiology and nuclear medicine.

 

This position offers the flexibility of being based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane – at any of our central office locations.

 

In this role, you will be required to provide high quality services to ensure the following:

  • All clinics are facilitating the safe and optimal use of ionising radiation in clinical practice
  • Managing and monitoring a radiation protection program including overseeing the Radiation Management Plan
  • Ensuring I-MED is compliant with applicable national and state/territory codes of practice and requirements from regulatory bodies in the use and storage of ionising radiation sources
  • Prepare and provide reporting to both internal and external bodies for radiation incidents
  • Provide advice and/or education to staff, patients and members of the public on clinical radiation including dose estimates,
  • Chair the I-MED Radiation Safety Committee
  • Provide compliance testing for diagnostic imaging equipment and provide shielding plans and reports
  • Prepare dose assessments for research projects involving the exposure of humans to ionising radiation

 

Core competencies include:

  • Possessing a sound knowledge and understanding of the medical imaging industry and the fundamental principles of the use of ionising and non-ionising radiation used in clinical practice
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high quality service in Medical Physics and radiation safety with the most recent technologies including the commissioning of new equipment
  • Experience and knowledge in applying and ensuring compliance to relevant codes of practice and legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and other medical and non-medical personnel verbally and in writing
  • Good organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to adapt and respond to change
  • Strong computer and IT system skills essential
