Where you will be working
 
Griffith Base Hospital is a 117 bed C1 peer grouped  hospital providing a range of acute specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, general medicine,  surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, intensive care, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rheumatology.  Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 540 births. Additional services at Griffith Base Hospital include physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. There are also a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, General X-Ray and Mammography.

What you will be doing
 
The Registered Midwife will work in partnership with women using a women centred approach to give them the necessary, support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. This includes being able to identify complications and seek timely referral or consultation to the appropriate health care provider.
 
Selection Criteria
 
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), with demonstrated evidence to meet the NMBA's Registered Nurse standards for practice and meet the NMBA approved standards, codes, guidelines and frameworks commensurate with the position
  • Demonstrates continuous quality improvement with the ability to: comprehensively conduct assessments; develop a plan for midwifery practice; provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality midwifery practice; and evaluates outcomes to inform midwifery practice
  • Demonstrated competencies in and/or knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in caring for women and their family during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period
