About the role

The Mater Private Hospital Perioperative Suite is looking to appoint a Clinical Nurse to the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) / Recovery team on a permanent full-time basis.

The Clinical Nurse is primarily responsible in assisting and supporting the Perioperative Services Manager, and the NUM (Anaesthetics / PACU / Recovery) in agreed leadership and clinical functions within the perioperative suite. This includes operational management functions of human and material resources relevant to the speciality. The Clinical Nurse is also required to initiate problem solving skills, promote and participate in education and staff development, contribute strongly to the quality/accreditation process and ultimately aim at improving patient care outcomes relevant to their clinical area.

Salary range: $44.08 - $47.23 (Registered Nurse Level 2) per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing

Our Perioperative Clinical Nurses provide additional leadership and advanced clinical competency to our Nursing Team. You will use your extensive experience to provide a mentorship and guiding aspect to assist in the professional growth of less-experienced nursing team members, supporting the Nurse Manager in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the Clinical Stream and assist with skill development.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
  • Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration
  • Extensive experience within a Recovery / PACU environment
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement process and the ability to initiate coordinate and evaluate quality improvement
