Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MS) is a Not for Profit organisation, and a leading source of information, advice and services for individuals living with multiple sclerosis.  The main focus of the organisation is to help minimise the impact of multiple sclerosis on individual lives and provide ongoing support to ensure their journey is not undertaken alone. 

 

We are recruiting for a permanent part-time Physiotherapist to take on this rewarding and challenging role within NSW, which may include regional areas, from the office based in Lidcombe.  The main purpose of this role is to work with participants utilizing MSL physiotherapy services to enable individuals to pursue their goals, objectives and aspirations.  You will be responsible for providing a range of specialist clinical services to support participants with disabilities to meet their identified needs. 

 

You will work with a caseload of individuals and assist with increasing or maintaining their independence including social participation and assist in building their capacity to actively take part in the community.  Additionally, you will be required to manage relationships with internal and external service providers to ensure maximum value for money is achieved and implement strategies to ensure seamless communication across the organisation.

 

Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Conducting specialist assessments of physical functions, mobility and the needs of the client to identify MS related issues and goals.
  • Providing recommendations on suitable activity levels, including referrals for therapy or exercise programs as appropriate to enable realisation of person centred goals.
  • Providing recommendations on suitable equipment including mobility aids and specialised seating or positioning aids as required.
  • Providing education regarding self-management to promote a healthy lifestyle and minimise the impact of MS symptoms.

 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in a relevant role in Disability or the Health sector
  • A demonstrated understanding of the NDIS environment and requirements of service agreements
  • Has a demonstrated ability to understand funding within NDIS participant plans
  • Has a demonstrated understanding and an ability to implement the principles of person-centred practice.
  • Is pragmatic, organised and demonstrates sound judgement
  • Has a high level of computer literacy in a range of Office packages

 

You will be Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy or a recent graduate looking for a new challenge, and be registered with an appropriate registration body, e.g. AHPRA.  As this position will require you to travel from time to time, you will need to have a current valid Driver License and personal vehicle for use.

 

This position is a Permanent Part-time position working Monday, Thursday and Friday totally 22.8 hours per week and an attractive salary is on offer, commensurate with your experience.  Additionally, you will be eligible for the salary packaging benefits of working within a NFP organisation. 

 

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Police Check, possibly an International Police Check, Working with Children Check and a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
