Our client, a well respected and expanding specialist practice located in Auchenflower is actively seeking to appoint a highly experienced Senior Medical Secretary to join their practice.  This is a highly sought after position, given you will be the lead Secretary who will embrace the idea and enjoy being involved in a variety of projects as this practice leads into expansion mode. 

The culture of the practice is characterised by a high standard of integrity and professionalism with the aim of providing an outstanding level of patient care and support.  Strong work ethics and values are of utmost importance.

The position is full time permanent, Monday to Friday, 38 hours a week.

Key duties and responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Taking all incoming telephone calls and assisting patients with general enquiries, attending to and distributing messages in a timely manner
  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Preparing and running patient clinics
  • Processing patient billing and receipting for consultations 
  • Performing banking and batching duties (with Medicare, DVA and Private Health Funds)
  • Ordering of clinical consumables and provide routine audits for monitoring of consumables and equipment
  • Receive and distribute both incoming and outgoing mail
  • Preparing patients for examinations and minor procedures (giving clear and accurate instructions to patients)
  • Typing of all clinical letters and correspondence with a high degree of accuracy
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient confidentiality 
  • A willingness to participate in professional development to enhance personal and professional effectiveness.

We are looking for candidates who display:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience as a Medical Secretary (preferably within a specialist setting)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Honesty, enthusiasm with a positive 'can do' attitude
  • An easy and respectful approach to all staff and patients when assisting them with any administrative support
  • Initiative and discretion
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times regarding the practice, its patients and the specialist
  • Self motivation and determination to succeed and achieve excellence
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • A high standard of computer literacy (including experience using Genie software)
  • Fast and accurate medical typing skills
  • Ability to take ownership of a task and see it through to completion

Remuneration:

A highly competitive salary will be on offer to the right candidate (pending relevant skills and experience).
