Wahroonga Rehabilitation Services Recreational Therapist Employment Type: Permanent Part Time Position Classification: Diversional Therapist Level 1/2 Remuneration: $30.85 -$44.70 Hours Per Week: 8 Requisition ID: REQ40759 We are looking for a motivated Recreational/ Diversional Therapist to work in our Community Mental Health Rehabilitation team. Where you'll be working WRS is part of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Mental Health Services, which is a large evolving mental health service. We are located in a cottage in Wahroonga Park, close to public transport and local shops. The position is supported by a professional senior - Level 3 Recreational Therapist as well as the MDT. What you'll be doing The Diversional Therapist provides care coordination, group and individual interventions, using principles of recovery oriented practice, bio-psychosocial and rehabilitation to consumers. The Diversional Therapist works as part of the multidisciplinary team, sharing generic work and offering discipline specific interventions. Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them. Bachelor or post graduate degree of health science or applied science in leisure, recreation or diversional therapy and eligibility for Diversional and Recreation Therapy Australia. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Commitment to participation in professional development, quality improvement activities and workplace education. Experience in mental health assessments and intervention with demonstrated skills and knowledge in the provision of a recreation service to consumers, carers and families requiring health education, leisure services and bio-psychosocial interventions. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required). Proven ability to exercise professional judgement commensurate with years of experience and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and inter-agency networks.
