The Children's Hospital at Westmead is looking for a suitable Registered Nurse with recent patient flow, hospital, and disaster management experience to join the After Hours Nurse Manager team. The After Hours Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of the hospital afterhours in conjunction with the Executive on Call.
What you'll be doing
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the:
- Coordination and the management of the Children’s Hospital Westmead (CHW) after hours, in the absence of the Nurse Manager Patient Flow and the Director of Nursing Services.
- Advising, supporting and assisting nursing staff, other health professionals and non-clinical personnel where appropriate.
- Maintenance of an effective and efficient health service for the community.
- Provision of leadership in patient flow across the facility.
- Effective management of resources, ensuring optimal patient outcomes by promoting best practice through facility capacity / demand management processes. This includes but is not limited to nurse staffing levels, bed allocation, media and incident management.
Active participation in meetings and relevant committees and contribution to the review and development of policies, procedures and strategic direction of the Nursing Services.
This position requires working a rotating roster.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Relevant recent management experience and or post-graduate qualification including recent experience in patient flow
- Knowledge and experience in hospital disaster management
- Demonstrated excellent communication, negotiation, decision-making and influencing skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and utilise current resources (staff, beds).
- Demonstrated leadership skills with advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills with a proven ability to solve complex operational problems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software applications.
