Clinical Educator

The purpose of the Clinical Educator role is to provide clinical leadership to and coordinate a clinical education program for a well established Aged Care organisation, with the view of delivering high quality, evidence based care.

This role will work closely with the regional Team Leaders and Managing Directors to ensure compliance to relevant legislation and regulation, consistency of practice and alignment to organisations values.

Key Challenges

The key challenge for this role will be to support a full and part time workforce to ensure that practitioners have the right skills to meet the changing demands of Aged Care. As well as the needs of different disciplines, while covering the needs of staff with different learning needs.

Role Responsibilities and Leadership

• Provide clinical leadership and day to day clinical advice to a team of allied health practitioners who predominantly work off site at various locations (Educating Physiotherapists and Allied Health employees)
• Develop and deliver a comprehensive induction and orientation
• Enhance and develop policies, protocols and other documents to ensure compliance with values, relevant legislation and regulations
• Promote a positive workplace culture

Clinical Education

• Source/develop/maintain a comprehensive education program across a range of delivery channels, including induction and orientation, mandatory training, required for specific role training and professional development training
• Source/develop/maintain associated training materials
• Coordinate and/or facilitate training programs, including all aspects of the Undergraduate student placement program
• Ensure that training program meets required standards and align with evidence based practice
• Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training
• Provide one to one staff mentoring and clinical advice
• Source/develop/maintain education material for clients and other stakeholders

Key Selection Criteria

Mandatory

• Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or relevant discipline
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Previous experience in an allied health leadership role
• Current valid Victorian Drivers License
• Current valid National Police Check indicating no previous or pending convictions
• Evidence of experience in meeting key performance measures, including budgets
• Evidence of having provided excellent clinical intervention, person centred practice and quality customer service
• Evidence of previously coordinating a clinical education program
• Evidence of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and ability to learn to use systems within a range of working environments
• Ability to travel outside the usual workplace &/or geographic area for short periods, costs covered.

Desirable

• Experience in working with older people
• Post graduate qualifications in a relevant field (eg rehabilitation, gerontology, dementia, training & education)
