Based in the regional city and 2 hours' drive north of Melbourne this hospital caters for the 160,000 people in its region. The hospital is a 300-bed acute and extended care facility which provides emergency surgical, medical, paediatric, obstetrics and gynaecology, intensive care and psychiatry services as well as extended care and regional services. As well as its main site in it has two smaller sites in the nearby towns with acute and aged care beds. The Health service also has an affiliation with the local universities.

The Emergency Senior Hospital Medical Officer will provide support to the Director of Emergency and other Hospital Medical Officers in the assessment and management of acute patients within the Emergency Department. Direct responsibility is to the Director of Emergency. The ED SHMO will provide day-to day clinical management of medical patients under the care and direction of the Director of the Emergency Department.
Applications will have:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Officer
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively with and appropriately with patients and others
- Clinical Competence appropriate to level of training
- High level of motivation
- Ability to work in a team environment
