Are you passionate about finding the most effective ways for Northern Sydney Local Health District to understand what and how their consumers, carers and the community want healthcare to be delivered to best meet their needs, and to working in partnership with them to achieve this? 

Where you'll be working
The role is within the Consumer and Community Participation team, a part of the NSLHD Clinical Governance Unit. The Clinical Governance Unit is located in the Douglas Building on the campus of Royal North Shore Hospital in St. Leonards.

What you'll be doing

Facilitate the consumer and community participations components of NSLHD Clinical Governance Improvement Framework, as informed by NSLHD Board strategic plan, ACSQHC National Standards and State initiatives through the pillars e.g. CEC, ACI etc. with the support of the Manager, Consumer and Community Partnerships.  
  
Foster and strengthen community and consumer engagement mechanisms to enable participation in health service planning and design, policy development, priority setting, evaluation and service reconfiguration.
    
Provide secretarial support to the Consumer, Community, Carer and Communications Committee (CCCC) Board Committee, the District Consumer Advisory Council (DCAC), and indirectly support the local/facility Community Participation Committees (CPCs) e.g. Royal North Shore, Hornsby, Northern Beaches, Ryde and Primary and Community Health.

Contribute to the gathering, analysis and reporting of data related to consumer engagement activities within the NSLHD e.g. Bureau of Health Information (BHI) reports, Incident Information Management System (IIMS) data and reports e.g. NSLHD and facility/service complaints data and NSLHD internal audit program data and reporting. 
                                                                                             
Develop and refine consumer feedback processes on health care experience in consultation with the Director, Clinical Governance and Manager Consumer and Community Partnerships, Clinical Networks and facility management.
 
Develop community understanding of the factors affecting individual health care, population health issues, health literacy, treatment services and general health service strategies.
 
Provide practical advice, action planning and support implementation activities to enhance management and clinician leadership for patient centered services and care delivery.
 
Support and develop organisational capacity in achieving and maintaining accreditation against the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards (2nd edition) with a focus on the specific requirements in the Partnering with Consumers Standard.

As a member of the Clinical Governance Unit Team, contribute to overall portfolio planning and implementation, policy setting and decision making to enable Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) to achieve its Vision of “Leaders in healthcare … Partners in community wellbeing” The core values underpinning this vision are – collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:       


  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in consumer, carer and community engagement, participation, negotiation and support.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, consultative and influencing skills and an ability to liaise and consult effectively with consumers, carers and community networks and groups to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis of complex issues, and experience in formulating new approaches, programs of change management and continuous improvement strategies that resulted in significant improvements.
  • Experience in the analysis of relevant quantitative and/or qualitative data and in the development of reports from relevant data sources.
  • Demonstrated ability and proven track-record in supporting and facilitating teamwork and collaboration, and enabling a culture of continuous improvement within a large and diverse organisation.
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
