About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane-Mater at Home currently has a rewarding opportunity for a Community Occupational Therapist to join the team in a full time capacity for a fixed term period of 12 months and based at our South Brisbane campus.

The purpose of the role is to provide community based Occupational Therapy services to the Mater at Home client population. Experience in community care (paediatrics and/or adults) and NDIS is desirable.

Salary range: $32.51-$49.13 (HP3) per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Deliver competent to complex level clinical Occupational Therapy services to the adult and/or paediatric population in the Greater Brisbane Area, within a single and multidisciplinary team and in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards.
  • As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under the professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
  • Modify standard clinical practices to deal with varying social and environmental constraints and the requirements of a broad range of funding programs by applying clinical judgement to unexpected situations that arise within the client’s place of residence
  • Participate in the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the Occupational Therapy work area as well as in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services and the Mater at Home program

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Current open driver's licence
  • Substantial knowledge, expertise and skill in Paediatric and /or Adult Occupational Therapy practice applicable to a community environment (Experience with NDIS preferred)
  • For Paediatrics only:
    • Experience with children with Autism and various syndrome’s such as Prader-Willi and Down syndrome, children with feeding difficulties and fussy eaters as well as experience with the younger population and Neuro- developmental input preferred
    • Demonstrated experience with Psychosocial intervention would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience with equipment prescriptions
