About the role

Mater has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated Clinical Facilitator to work within Mater Education with placement in the Central Staffing Office. This role will be offered as a part time position (0.53FTE - 40 hours per fortnight).

Mater Education is a nationally, accredited, independent, hospital-based Registered Training Organisation, the only one of its kind in Queensland and a subsidiary of the wider Mater Group. We offer a range of courses for beginning practitioners through to highly experienced clinicians. Working as a member of Mater’s Education team, you will collaboratively provide clinical education and support to all members of the multi-disciplinary team across Mater's clinical and non-clinical teams.

As the successful candidate, in collaboration with the Education Co-ordinator you will support and facilitate the delivery of education strategies included in Mater Education’s Strategic and Operational Plans. Additionally, you will promote and implement best practice / evidence based practice; promote critical thinking and clinical problem solving; and consistency in care delivery within a practice development and robust education model. To enable this, the position is supported by staff within the broader Practice Development and Mater Education Teams.

Salary: $44.08 (Registered Nurse Level 2) per hour plus superannuation

What you’ll be doing

As a Clinical Facilitator, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing and promoting clinical expertise and clinical leadership;
  • Role modelling exceptional clinical care and high levels of inter -professional communication and collaboration;
  • Wide and diverse co-ordination, provision of practice development and clinical education specifically to staff allocated to the Central Staffing Office (relief pool, casual, graduates);
  • Facilitating the implementation of new policies, national standards and evidence-based models of care; and
  • Clinical bedside teaching and education direction to align clinicians with best practice models, and promote consistency in care delivery across multi-disciplinary groups.

About you

To be considered for this position, it is essential you have:

  • Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience across medical and surgical specialties
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical facilitation and preceptorship
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), or a willingness to complete this qualification upon commencement in this role
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant clinical speciality and/or Education, or working towards (desirable);
  • High level communication and clinical problem solving skills
  • Sound understanding of risk and quality management frameworks, processes and research
  • Strong focus on self-professional development and that of others.
