Youth Focus, Western Australia's leading youth suicide prevention organisation, is seeking an experienced Intake Coordinator to join its dynamic, professional and passionate team.

Located in our head office, this role is the primary point of contact for information and assessment for all incoming referrals to our service. 

What’s involved?

  • Coordination of all metro and regional intake services including referral, intake, allocations and waitlist risk management.
  • Supervision and guidance of a small team of part-time triage officers.
  • Provision and documentation of comprehensive and timely telephone screening and assessment in order to establish the nature and appropriateness of the referral.
  • Conducting of intake assessment and liaison with external agencies where necessary.
  • Collation of triage referral information for presentation to intake/allocation meetings.
  • With support from Clinical Managers, ensure adequate resourcing of triage through the monitoring of triage demand and capacity.
  • Representation of triage at all relevant internal and external meetings and advocate on behalf of the interests of the Intake function if necessary.
  • Ongoing review of intake systems in order to continuously improve upon client-centred, recovery-focused practice.
  • Assist in the establishment of a new web-counselling service as it rolls out to 20 new sites across regional WA. This may involve adjustment and flexibility in intake practices and proactive stakeholder engagement with key local parties.

What will you need to succeed?

  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, as well as current registration with the appropriate professional body.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills with a minimum of three years’ experience working in a clinical setting in a triage/intake role
  • At least 2 years working in a youth mental health setting
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial  and suicide risk assessments
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage data information system
  • Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision and support
