Life with us:
The EMH is a multi-disciplinary team, which provides a 24-hour, 7-day/week assessment and treatment service to people in psychiatric crisis who present to The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Emergency Department. The EMH also provides the Inner West Police Ambulance and Clinician Early Response (IW-PACER) service to the areas of the Inner West Area Mental Health Service (IWAMHS).
A job to be proud of:
- Conduct daily operational leadership and coordination of EMH clinicians and monitor the provision of psychiatric care provided to patients of the EMH to ensure that patients experiencing an acute phase of a mental illness have high quality psychiatric assessment and treatment
- Participate in clinical service development activities within the team, encourage and support quality initiatives and research.
- Provide support to, and act as representative for the Program Manager in their absence
- Coordinate Access for IWAMHS and ensure consistent application of the Access function both in and out of hours.
- Provide supervision to staff as well as students within the relevant discipline.
Your contribution:
- Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
- Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary workforce
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness
- Commitment to working rostered shifts – morning, afternoon and night.
