The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a permanent full-time Psychologist vacancy within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) - South.

CAMHS is a child and adolescent mental health service that assists children and adolescents aged 0 – 18 years with severe and complex mental health illness or disorders. Specialist services range from inpatient assessment and treatment to community care and clinics that focus on specific disorders. There is also a secondary consultation service provided as appropriate. This fixed term position is located in New Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist treatment to infants, children and young people up to 18 years old as well as liaison and consultation to external service providers as determined by senior staff. 

Vacancy: Permanent full-time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible. Part-time hours will be considered.

Free parking is available outside the building on the street.

The Role:

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies. In this role you will:

  • Undertake the delivery of quality care to clients of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Provide a specialist assessment and treatment service to clients of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and their families or carers.
  • Promote community awareness in relation to mental health and act as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of clients with mental health needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:

1.  Conviction checks in the following areas:
a)  Crimes of Violence
b)  Sex Related Offences
c)  Serious Drug Offences
d)  Crimes involving dishonesty

3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Salary: $88,192 to $98,170 per annum
