PhD Opportunity in Nutrition and Population Health
The PhD project:
The Nutrition, Lifestyle and Clinical Trials Research Group is looking for outstanding applicants who are interested in pursuing a PhD in the area of nutrition and human health. The research will investigate the importance of specific components present in plant foods for vascular health.
Increasing the intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains remains the foundation of dietary approaches to prevent vascular disease. However, surprisingly little is known about the components of these foods that contribute to vascular health, or the mechanisms involved. Identifying these specific components and mechanisms will improve targeted dietary approaches to enhance vascular health.
The Nutrition, Lifestyle and Clinical Trials Research Group includes internationally recognised medical and scientific researchers investigating how diet and lifestyle prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and
other outcomes related to vascular health. The research is led by Edith Cowan University, in collaboration with University of Western Australia, University of Sydney, and University of Adelaide. The projects available are supported by grants from the NHMRC and industry.
Selection criteria:
Applicants should have a high level of achievement, including an honours degree or equivalent. The degree could be in a range of relevant fields, such as nutrition, biological sciences, epidemiology, public health, health sciences or medicine. Applicants should also have a strong interest in human nutrition. Applications are open to Australian and New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents.
