About the Mental Health Department

The Mental Health Service includes a 44 bed adult acute inpatient unit for the cities of Yarra and Boroondara; the Koori state-wide Inpatient Mental Health Service; Continuing Care Teams; a Crisis Assessment Team; ED Mental Health and Psychiatric Triage; Prevention and Recovery Care Service (PARC); Footbridge Community Care Unit; The Primary Intervention Care Team (PICT) and MH-HARP; Mobile Support Teams; Clarendon Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Service (CHOPS); Victorian Dual Diagnosis Service (VDDS); Body Image Eating Disorders Treatment and Recovery Service (BETRS) and NEXUS (Concurrent Mental Illness and Substance Use Advisory Service); Consultation & Liaison Service and Victorian Transcultural Mental Health (VTMH) and NEVIL Training Cluster.

About the Role

The Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse, under the supervision of the RPN on shift, will be responsible for the delivery of high quality patient care within the team environment. To work collaboratively within the integrated adult area mental health service with consumers, carers and a range of community service providers.



Duties

• Work within the Strengths Model of Recovery Orientated Practice
• Provide high quality clinical services to consumers and carers
• Administer medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
• Contribute effectively in clinical review processes and team activities
• Respond to diversity by demonstrating culturally competent practice
• Support Consumers in becoming experts and leaders of their own care

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Certificate or Diploma in Nursing which meets the requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Current Practicing Certificate
• Medication Administration endorsement
• Current Victorian Driver’s License
