The Department
CYMHS provides clinical services in partnership with a wide range of service providers to achieve the best possible outcomes. Alfred CYMHS is committed to active participation by families and young people in evaluating and improving our services. The ACYMHS Child and Youth program provides specialist mental health services to children of school age and youth within the catchment area. This includes direct service for individuals, families and groups, as well as consultation to professionals from other agencies, providing services to children and youth in this age group
The Role
Alfred CYMHS is a dynamic child and youth mental health service in south east melbourne. We are seeking a mental health nurse to join our mutlidisciplinary team completing assessments and providing treatment to those aged birth through till 25 years. The position is based at Alfred Psychiatry and is located at 999 Nepean Highway. This position is part time. The position is within the ACYMHS child and youth team. The incumbent will provide specialist mental health services to children and youth within the team’s catchment area. This includes direct service for individuals, families and groups, as well as consultation to professionals from other agencies providing services to children and youth.
Skills
- Ability to function independently and also effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to initiate and contribute to mental health research and quality improvement projects.
- Knowledge of the principles and application of the Mental Health Act (1986) and amendments (1996), Children, Youth and Families Amendment (Permanent Care and Other Matters) Act 2014 and other relevant legislation and policies and strategic directions in public mental health service provision.
- Be aware of and practice standard Hospital procedures for emergency situations
