Casual opportunity

Are you determined to make a positive impact by shifting paradigms for people living with dementia?

Do you want to join the VDT team as we commence providing the VDT to family members, services and the general community in Australia as Churches of Christ has exclusively secured the Australian VDT licence?

About the role

The Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT®) is scientifically proven to be the closest we can give a person with a healthy brain an experience of what dementia might be like. In your role as Certified Trainer, you will be guiding participants through a simulation fitted with patented devices that alter their senses through common everyday tasks and exercises. This role requires a passionate and committed individual and will provide opportunities to travel and engage with diverse communities.

What fuels our team and vision, is truly making a difference through assisting participants to understand dementia from the person's point of view, improving acceptance and positive responses to people living with dementia and their families. While experience and qualifications are essential, the people we seek for our dynamic team need to be equally passionate, enthusiastic and have a genuine ambition to create nationwide culture change, through continuing growth in innovative education and awareness raising in dementia care. Sound like you?

About you

You are an engaging communicator who thrives off diversity. You have experience in delivering education and demonstrate proactive leadership using influence rather than control. As the Certified Trainer ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering innovative education in the field of dementia;
  • Qualifications in Aged Care, Nursing or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Experience or knowledge of dementia and people living with dementia and their families in the community setting and or/residential aged care facilities;
  • Current driver's licence and National Police Certificate;
  • Ability to travel, proficient computer skills and uplifting manner.

Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: modelling unconditional love; behaving with integrity; and being good stewards.

Who we are

We offer over 200 services in more than 100 communities, positively impacting around 45,000 lives each year. Our care services range from children, youth and family services, early intervention and protection, affordable housing, and seniors and support living, making us one of Australia's largest, most diverse not-for-profit organisations.

We take great pride in what we do. Consequently, we look for people of the highest ethics and professional standing. Our fields of expertise range from marketing and communications, information technology and quality assurance to management and government relations. Clearly, a career with us can be as challenging and diverse as the services we provide.

Imagine working for us

Our values encourage us to be accepting of differences and embrace all. Our size and variety offers you real choice and opportunities to grow your career. You'll also find we offer a family friendly work culture.

Remuneration packages come complete with salary-packaging benefits that can increase your take-home pay along with a generous five weeks of annual leave and the ability to purchase more (for eligible employees). To ensure your career can grow, we are constantly exploring innovative training and development programs. Most importantly, you will help us to positively impact the lives of thousands of vulnerable Australians. Just imagine that.
