Senior Social Worker – Grade 3 

• Part-time position, 48hrs/fortnight
• 2-year appointment (July 2018 - July 2020)
• Specialist Services- Neuropsychiatry Unit

Join our team and contribute to excellence in patient care through Clinical Neuropsychology services within the Neuropsychiatry Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital – City Campus. The Neuropsychiatry Unit is a state-wide specialist diagnostic unit and it has a strong focus in research, consultation, education and training.

The Neuropsychiatry Unit has an 8-bed inpatient unit and runs a variety of specialist outpatient clinics, including Young Onset Dementia, General Neuropsychiatry, Metabolic, Mental Health, Deep Brain Stimulation for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Huntington’s disease.

• Provide assessments, integrated casework service and other social work interventions, including: NDIS; ACAS; income support, accommodation placement, applications for Guardianship and Administration orders, counselling, support and information provision regarding resources and services, to clients, their families or carers.
• Participate in the development of multidisciplinary treatment and outpatient plans for clients and take responsibility for psycho-social assessment and interventions.
• Maintain accurate written & electronic documentation and records of interventions and services and progress of clients in the inpatient setting.
• Collaborate with members of the multi-disciplinary team in decision making pertaining to high quality standards of patient care. 
• The client population is highly varied and the successful applicant would gain skills in the assessment and treatment of people with a range of neurological, psychiatric and neuropsychiatric conditions. 

Your Contribution:

The Senior Social worker position requires approved training, experience and expertise in social work with a commitment to high standards of patient care including skilled interventions with families, carers and community agencies.  Preferably the applicant would have experience in the area of progressive neurological disorders, aged care, and public mental health or hospital settings.  The position requires a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team with the capacity to lead and supervise others
