The Position

St John of God Pinelodge Clinic is a 54-bed private hospital offering specialised psychiatric, drug, alcohol treatment, and care, and is located in Dandenong, a South Eastern suburb of Melbourne. Encompassing in-patient services, day-patient therapy programs and a community outreach service, St. John of God Pinelodge Clinic prides itself on providing dynamic and recovery based care for all our patients, throughout all stages of their recovery.   

We currently have a position for a passionate and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our friendly and dynamic team on the Norfolk Unit. Norfolk is a 36 bed specialised mental health unit providing patient centred and progressive psychiatric care to those with varying psychiatric presentations from the age of 18.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic caregiver, who would be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care, supervision and preceptorship of registered, graduate and undergraduate nurses, and assisting with the clinical management of the ward. Possession of a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health or equivalent and clinical skills in the area of Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis Nursing are essential for further consideration.

This position will be offered on a permanent, part time basis, working 53.2 hours per fortnight across a 7-day rotating roster.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse.
  • Post Graduate Mental Health qualification or equivalent with advanced clinical skills, knowledge and experience in the areas of Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis nursing.
  • Ability to conduct relevant risk assessments including mental health risk assessment, mental state examinations and Drug and Alcohol assessments.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to delegate, motivate and work as an effective member of the team.
  • Ability to educate patients, family and staff.
  • Sound planning and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to on-going education and self-directed learning.
  • Commitment to and understanding of continuous quality improvement.
