The Role
Reporting to a S&S Business Manager and based in either Melbourne (Clayton) or Sydney (Padstow) the role takes responsibility for Occupational Health activities across the group. The role leads a team of occupational health professionals working in Australia.
The role is considered a key member of the wider Safety and Sustainability network and will be required to work closely with the human resources team. The role offers a variety of employee interaction, on a day to day basis working with sales, operations, Trade Centres, merchandising as well as office based employees.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage a team of Occupational Health Co-ordinators across Australia.
- Develop project plans to manage new initiatives and integration of sites / businesses.
- Manage the business health surveillance programs
- Manage RTW activities and provide advice to line managers
- Advising the business regarding fitness for work
- Promote general health across the business and assist with delivery of business specific health programs
- Develop and conduct workplace training in health awareness programs (e.g. manual handling, hearing conservation)
Selection Criteria
In addition to a Nursing qualification (RN) and previous experience in a similar role, this role requires
- Experience in managing a team of health professional in remote location.
- Experience in managing occupational health functions within a chemical operating environment.
- Experience in return to work (RTW) and assisting our workers compensation team
- The ability to work with and build relationships with a diverse range of people
- Proven communication skills (much of your work will be over the phone)
- Outstanding organisation and administration skills
- Strong IT system and application skills
- You will need to be a confident decision maker
- Highly self motivated
