Role Overview

The Novita therapist will work alongside a supportive and collaborative team in a multi-disciplinary service for children, youth and young adults with physical disability, autism, acquired brain injuries, and other developmental disorders.

The role will involve working with clients and their caregivers through assessment and interventions that can occur in the environment in which they live, learn, play and work.

Working in clinical or community settings you will support each child or young person to reach their full potential and independence.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of psychological services to an allocated caseload of Novita customers and their families, where required this can occur under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist
  • Develop, apply and modify intervention plans, based on sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice, which are appropriate to meet the needs of individual clients
  • Provide evidence-based interventions that support client’s social, emotional, cognitive development and the development of appropriate positive behavioural support interventions
  • Provide professional services to client groups in circumstances requiring increasing complex practice skills
  • Select, apply and evaluate established assessments and interventions
  • Advise staff and carers how to support a client with psychological problems in respect of complex cases, designing and executing new and creative treatment solutions through the systematic application of scientific principles and knowledge
  • A commitment to the provision of quality care

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • AHPRA registration (or in the process of obtaining registration) 
  • Appropriate graduate qualifications in psychology
  • Proactive approach and knowledge of current psychological concepts and research strategies
  • Relevant knowledge in the field of children’s development and disability awareness
  • Knowledge of assessment and interventions for reducing the impact of conditions
  • Impeccable communication skills and rapport building ability for relationships with clients and their families
  • Understanding the importance and adhering to professional standards and record managements of documentation and development
  • First Aid Certificate (Desirable)
  • Mandatory reporting Certificate(Desirable)
  • DCSI clearances for Child-Related Employment Screening
