Mission Australia has been helping vulnerable Australians move towards independence for more than 155 years.

As a community partner of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) Mission Australia plays a pivotal role in the roll out of the scheme, ensuring planning, coordination and capacity building support is provided for people with a disability to maximise their choice, inclusion and control over the services they receive to live an ordinary life.

Mission Australia will implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach to assist all children with developmental delay and/or disability, and their families to achieve better long term outcomes through support services in their local community.

ECEI Coordinators support families and carers to help children develop the skills they need to take part in daily activities and achieve the best possible outcomes throughout their life.

ECEI Coordinators are equipped with strong early childhood development knowledge and excellent observation skills. They work using a trans disciplinary approach, undertaking developmental screening and assessments required by the NDIS and implement interventions that build on the strengths of the child and their families and improve the child’s trajectory and overall quality of life. ECEI Coordinators also work directly with mainstream providers of children’s services and community groups to build inclusion and community capacity.

Senior ECEI Coordinators are experienced allied health professionals and where local services are not available will be responsible for the planning, coordinating, and implementation of individual and group based therapy. In addition to these duties Seniors also provide direction, coaching and mentoring to ECEI Coordinators and support the Area Manager and Program Manager in identifying opportunities for practice and service improvement.
