You will be responsible for the provision of a high quality, efficient and cost-effective diagnostic pathology service by applying your professional expertise, competence and experience to ensure optimal day-to-day operation of the service. This will be achieved through the management and scientific oversight of the policies, procedures, guidelines and operational activities within biochemical genetics. As a senior member of the team, you will play a valuable role in contributing to the strategic direction of Biochemical Genetics and to the Genetics and Molecular Pathology directorate. This will include working with other senior laboratory and medical staff to initiate, develop and supervise relevant developmental and research activities in order to improve diagnostic services. SA Pathology provides quality diagnostic pathology services to the South Australian community, as well as support for training and medical research, through our state-wide laboratory network.
Holding a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent, you will have significant experience in providing diagnostic services. This will include an extensive understanding of diagnostic enzyme assays, analyte measurements and molecular biological techniques. With proven ability to lead, motivate and coordinate workflow to ensure the highest level of team performance, you will have the ability to proactively identify opportunities for further improvement and to implement service improvements in response to discipline requirements and customer needs. Your high level of analytical skills, in particular, the ability to solve scientific problems in a logical manner to develop practical outcomes, will hold you in good stead for this role.
