About the business and the role
The Australian College of Pharmacy is a member-based professional body which has operated continuously since 1978.
A key objective of the Australian College of Pharmacy is to develop and deliver educational, training and research programs and to contribute to the advancement of the profession.
The Professional Development Officer is part of a small team which develops quality education for pharmacists.
This position is a part-time position (minimum 30 hours per week negotiable to full-time for the right candidate). Monday to Friday.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Position responsibilities include:
- Manage the development and accreditation of pharmacy practice educational material for use in the College's educational programs.
- Develop (author) evidence-based clinical educational materials suitable for accreditation and adapt reviewed materials to be delivered as eLearning.
- Manage the maintenance/updating of the Learning Management System (LMS) education
- Maintain the system of CPD accreditation and quality improvement to ensure ongoing compliance with the College's authority to accredit.
- Support and assist College members and users of College education services
Skills and experience
Mandatory
- Current registration as a pharmacist in Australia
Highly desirable
- Recent experience as a pharmacist practising in community pharmacy in Australia
- Experience in the use of eLearning content software including creative design skills to support good education outcomes
Desirable
- Minimum of five years in a professional environment
- High level communication skills - written, oral, liaison
- Knowledge of pharmacist professional practice standards and the pharmacist continuing professional development framework.
- Knowledge of educational theory (use of adult learning principles) and proficiency in instructional design
- Good planning and project management skills and the ability to prioritise issues and tasks
- Ability to draft and critique clinical practice articles and presentations
- An understanding of quality assurance principles and their application
- Analytical and problem solving abilities
- A proficiency in MS Office applications, customer relationship management software, and learning management systems
- Knowledge of the health sector, in particular the community pharmacy environment
