Registered Nurse – Drug and Alcohol
This position is searching for a Registered Nurse with a strong interest, willingness to learn or prior experience, in working with clients who are experiencing Drug and Alcohol problems within the community.
Your previous experience will showcase your ability to work autonomously, take initiative, whilst providing support and case management. It may be necessary at times to refer to other health professional services for example a client’s GP, Liver Clinic or Oral Health. Integral to this position is providing professional advice and working closely with other health, community and welfare professionals
You will hold strong evaluation skills, be culturally sensitive and appropriate in providing treatment plans following a comprehensive assessment. Referral to this service are received from a large sector of the community including FACS, GP’s, Mental Health Units, Justice Health, hospitals and self-referrals.
In this position you will find yourself working within a multidisciplinary health team including a Medical Prescriber, Aboriginal Health Worker and Counsellor. Support will also be provided by the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Consultant with your success and growth in the role a focus. The successful applicant will be mentored and have an opportunity to attend fortnightly educational sessions via video conferencing Further studies and professional development are encouraged to allow you to grow and develop within the role and obtain skills to aid you in providing the best quality care to clients of the service.
The position will see you covering the southern section of the Mehi district, incorporating Moree, Wee Waa and Narrabri, with the opportunity to locate yourself at either Moree or Narrabri Community Health.
Narrabri, in the heart of the Namoi Valley, is a vibrant centre known for industries in cotton, beef and wheat. A haven for foodies, the area offers an abundance of beautiful local produce such as olives, wine, honey and pasta. Nature enthusiasts relish the unique natural attractions, including the breathtaking Mt Kaputar National Park, formed around an extinct volcano rising dramatically out of the black soil plains. Enjoy stunning walking tracks, hot artesian bore baths, camping, and numerous water sports. Narrabri is a great place for families; voted the most sporting town in Australia, it offers many recreational facilities, as well as three primary schools, a high school and numerous child care centres.
