The role:
We are looking for a Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services working with a dedicated established team.

This includes research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future. Work in a collegial, multi-disciplinary team settings, within a supportive framework of peer and operational supports. Lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Service (CAYAS)

The Adolescent Inpatient Unit is a purpose built 8 bed unit dedicated to the provision of mental health care to adolescents aged between 12 and 18 years of age and their families. The Unit is co-located with the Adolescent Day Services programme and has dedicated therapy and outdoor areas. The Day Program offers group based therapy for young people as well as individual therapy, family therapy, and specific allied health assessments. The Day Program offers both an assessment and treatment for young people and families. Young people may be in the Day Program for up to 6 months.

The Community Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CCYMHS) is a specialised mental health service for children and young people (0-18 years) and their families offers assessment and therapeutic services for children and young people who are experiencing moderate to severe psychiatric disorders or behavioural, emotional and developmental problems affecting all areas of their daily lives.

Evolve Therapeutic Services (ETS) provide specialist intensive mental health therapeutic interventions for children/young people on interim or finalised child protection orders in out-of-home care, with severe and complex mental health support needs. ETS is the Queensland Health (QH) therapeutic service component of Evolve Interagency Services (Evolve) which is funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (DCCSDS). Evolve refers to the interagency partnership between QH, DCCSDS and the Department of Education, Training and Employment (DETE).

Adolescent Forensic Mental Health Service (NQAFMHS) provide a range of services to support young people who are involved with the Juvenile Justice System, or who are at risk of such involvement, to access mental health and ATODS treatment services.

The Young Peoples Early Intervention Team (YPEIT) is a specialised mental health service for young people aged 15 - 24 inclusive, who reside in the Hospital and Health Service catchment area. It has a particular focus on reducing the duration and impact of psychological disturbance by enhancing early recognition and timely appropriate treatment for young people experiencing Early Psychosis and other emerging severe and complex non- psychotic disorders.

The Hospital:
The hospital has approximately 600 inpatient beds and takes referrals for its tertiary services.
