We are currently arranging interviews for experienced Emergency Physicians for a hospital on the coast of Queensland. You will work as part of a busy and productive team of FACEMs and report Director of Emergency.
This hospital has 305 beds and is the main referral hospital in Central Queensland, serving a population of over 250,000. It is also home to the new integrated cancer care service. The Central Queensland Rural Clinical School is based here and provides training for medical students from the University of Queensland. This hospital offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services. They have adopted an integrated approach to service delivery to ensure continuity, effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of care.
The hospital is accredited with the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards and this shows the staff's commitment to providing quality care to the community. A wide range of services are offered, including, Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics.
The Location:
This hospital is located on the coast of Central Queensland, approximately 600km from Brisbane. There are regular flights to Brisbane which only take one hour. It is one of the oldest cities in Queensland and has a population of over 80,000. Along with being a major centre for health, this city is also the main centre on the Central Queensland Coast for education. It has numerous state and private schools, along with the Central Queensland University.
If you are looking to get a taste for tropical Australia this is an amazing location to have as a base. This region boasts some of the most pristine beaches found anywhere in the world and is known for being one of the gateways to the Great Barrier Reef, surrounded by islands and hinterland, a range of outdoor activities including fishing, trekking, boating, 4 wheel driving and exploring the local area and a host of water sports.
Applications will have:
1) Australian citizen or permanent resident, or eligible for sponsorship
2) Current authority to practice as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) / Medical Board of Australia, or eligibility for same.
3)Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award or other specialist recognition
4)Demonstrated technical and professional competence as a Consultant Emergency Medicine Specialist, and in the specialty practice of Emergency Medicine, with clinical hospital experience.
5)Demonstrated participation in, and commitment to quality assurance activities relevant to speciality; and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
