What you'll be doing
The Youth Health Counselling Senior will work with the Youth Health Coordinator/Service Manager and the Community Access Senior as a multidisciplinary team.   The Counselling Senior will provide clinical leadership and coordination of the counselling team and support the clinical functions of the service.   Included in this role is a commitment to providing professional consultation to staff, develop appropriate professional networks and determine appropriate referral pathways for young people.  

This position will work collaboratively with a range of government and non-government agencies to provide support, early intervention and prevention strategies to young people in the local community, provide therapeutic group work and community training as requested.   This role is an important position in providing a range of multidisciplinary Youth Health services including Counselling, Group-work, Health Education, On Call / Worker On Duty (intake) and Outreach.

Selection Criteria

 

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in a counselling related discipline
  2. Demonstrated extensive relevant counselling experience and/or training in counselling supervision
  3. Demonstrated understanding and experience working with at risk young people
  4. Experience in coordinating clinical services including counselling services
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and support to an interdisciplinary team in achieving team objectives and quality improvement strategies
  6. Demonstrated excellent time management skills
  7. Demonstrated technical competence in using relevant computer programs including Word and CHIME
  8. Demonstrated understanding of health promotion principles & practices and how these relate to a youth health setting
