We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced ICU nurse to apply for the position of Clinical Nurse Educator in our Intensive Care Unit/Coronary Care Unit. The successful applicant must have experience facilitating clinical education to all levels of Nursing Staff and be willing to provide education to non-clinical staff within the ICU/CCU and the organisation. The position is full time, the option for a job share arrangement may be considered.
 
The role will incorporate the following:

  • Provide clinical leadership including preceptorship and mentorship to establish a collaborative approach to learning and development in the unit.
  • Effectively communicate, utilise adult learning principles and a range of educational and learning approaches to facilitate the development of capability within individuals to ensure the provision of safe, compassionate and quality care.
  • Take responsibility and accountability for clinical practice, critical reflection, professional development and performance review and actively participate in the support, teaching, coaching and development of others.
  • In consultation with the management team and other educators, provide and evaluate clinical teaching and education relevant to and suitable for all levels of staff to meet the organisation's operational and strategic requirements.
  • Carry out nursing practice in accordance with legislation, common law, Registered Nurse Standards for Practice, Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, and the Australian Nursing Council Inc (ANCI) Code of Ethics Australia. 
  • Act in accordance with the MUH values and Code of Conduct, and model the behaviours in line with our values and Code of Conduct

As the successful candidate you will posess:

  • Demonstrated professional/positive behaviour in alignment with MUH values
  • Demonstrated understanding of competency-base assessment with experience in education / clinical teaching and developing clinical programs based on adult learning principles
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe, compassionate and quality care 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients, families, nursing staff and the multidisciplinary health care team
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in Intensive Care Nursing 
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Intensive Care or Cardiology Nursing
  • Qualifications in education are desirable
