Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking energetic, motivated and results orientated individuals to join and our City Development Team in providing quality town planning, building surveying and plumbing inspection services for our growing City.

Wagga Wagga City is the regional capital of the Riverina region of NSW with an urban population of approximately 60,000 people. The city is located midway (450kms each side) between Sydney and Melbourne and is well connected with excellent rail and road network. Wagga Wagga is an important agricultural, industrial, business, military, and transport hub and the ninth fastest growing inland city in Australia.

Building Coordinator 

Remuneration: Entry Level $86,279.44 gross per annum + superannuation.
Tenure: Full time permanent position

The successful applicant is required to hold or be eligible to hold a minimum A2 level accreditation under the Building Professional Boards Accreditation Scheme. The key responsibilities of the position include leading the building and plumbing team, assessing building applications relevant to level of accreditation and reviewing, developing and implementing building and plumbing processes.

 

Building Surveyor 

Remuneration: Entry Level $74,108.84 gross per annum + superannuation.
Tenure: Full time position

The successful applicant is required to hold or be eligible to hold a minimum A3 level accreditation under the Building Professional Boards Accreditation Scheme. A preparedness to undertake required studies in Building Surveying to attain an A2 level accreditation would be advantages to the organisation. The key responsibilities of the position include conducting assessment of development applications, construction certificates and complying development certificates and the undertaking of inspections of approved development for compliance.

 

Town Planner 

Remuneration: Entry Level $68,151.72 gross per annum + superannuation.
Tenure: Full time permanent position

The successful applicant is required to hold tertiary qualifications and experience in town planning or a related discipline, along with a solid understanding of relevant land use planning legislation which is key to the position. The key responsibilities of the position include assessing a range of development applications including residential, multi-dwellings, industrial, commercial, rural development and subdivisions, undertaking site inspections, contributing to process and system development, along with providing quality customer service advice. Further opportunities may also be provided to contribute to Council's Strategic Planning and projects.

OR

Cadet Town Planner 

Remuneration: Entry Level $58,766.24 gross per annum + superannuation. 
Tenure: Full time temporary position (maximum four years)

The successful applicant is required to be enrolled in a Bachelor degree in town planning or a related discipline and demonstrate an ability and preparedness to obtain experience in town planning and a solid understanding of relevant land use planning legislation which is key to the position. The key responsibilities of the position include supervised assessment of a range of development applications including residential, multi-dwellings, industrial, commercial, rural development and subdivisions, undertaking site inspections, contributing to process and system development, along with providing quality customer service advice. Further opportunities may also be provided to contribute to Council's Strategic Planning and projects. Upon successful completion of the cadetship study and work place components, cadets may be offered a permanent position with Council.
