Your role:

The Clinical Nurse/Midwife provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence based nursing/midwifery care, plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing/midwifery staff in the Birth Centre within the Women's Health Unit.

Your team

The Birth Centre creates a nurturing environment for antenatal, intrapartum and post-natal care. This care model strives towards shared responsibility between each woman and her midwife and recognises the importance of continuity of care for women as a priority. The Birth Centre offers a midwifery case load model of care with 40 Women per Full Time Equivalent (FTE).

The Mackay Birth Centre was opened in 1994, by the women of Mackay for well pregnant women experiencing an uncomplicated pregnancy who strive for a natural birth in a family environment. The Birth Centre staff recognize pregnancy and birth as a healthy life event for each family. The delivery of family centred care involves education and support to ensure a safe and satisfying pregnancy, birth and early parenting experience. Decisions on all aspects of care are made in consultation with the woman and her family to enable them to make informed decisions.

Conditions of employment:
