Cook Shire Council is seeking to appoint an individual, ready for a challenge, to join the team in this newly created position of Native Title and Land Tenure Officer.

This is a specialised role and requires someone with strong native title, land tenure and land and property management experience coupled with associated cultural and legislative experience.  In addition, effective communication and negotiation skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels is essential in this role.

Reporting to the Director of Organisational Business Services this position will:

- Provide effective coordination and resolution of Native Title and Land Tenure matters.
- Management of trustee/freehold land and Council's property portfolio.
- Contribute as a integral member of a Project Group for special projects.
- Undertake contract and budget management.
- Facilitate property management services.
- Prepare tenure documentation for various purposes including commercial, residential and community.
- Coordinate and prepare land management plans in accordance with DNRM requirements.
