About the role

The Program Officer role supports the service development, performance management and continuous quality improvement measures with health service providers. The role requires a flexible and agile person with experience in project management with the ability to schedule complex programs of work to effectively respond to change and competing demands.

You will work as part of a team to drive development, evaluation and improvement of initiatives. This position will be responsible for discrete units of work.

Responsibilities for this role include but not limited to:

  • Implement strategic initiatives externally with providers and internally with WorkSafe, aligned to business strategy
  • Prepare high quality documentation, including but not limited to ministerials, executive briefs, letters, briefs, plans, flow charts, provider agreements, data and evaluation reports
  • Assist with research and proactively provide advice and options by undertaking analysis of data and information; to inform decision making, policy development and the operational aspects of program implementation and improvement
  • Assist and facilitate the implementation of provider capability and continuous quality improvement initiatives, including the investigation and resolution of complaints relating to health providers
  • Support the development and implementation of processes, policies, system management, performance measures and reporting
  • Contribute to internal and external engagement including working groups, workshops & consultations by representing the Health Strategy division

Skills & experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in a health, disability or program management field.
  • Project certifiaction and/or experience.
  • You will possess in-depth knowledge of your specific area that may be gained through a combination of study and experience.
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Extensive client/customer service experience with the demonstrated ability to deal empathetically but realistically with difficult behaviours and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders to support resolution of complex issues
  • Ability to work as a team member or independently as required, and the capacity to deal effectively with a wide diversity of projects and work deadlines
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Intermediate/Advanced computer skills in Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint, MS Visio, Outlook
  • High level of keyboard accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Ability to undertake effective research and analyse material
