About the Opportunity

The Change and Communications Lead is accountable for the development and application of effective change management and communications practices that support the delivery of priority programs and projects identified by Cumberland Council. Specifically, the role will support the Council-wide project to deliver the Computer Systems Replacement Project (P360).

The Change Management and Communications Lead will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for change management and communications in the project delivering the new system for staff. The Lead will develop and execute change management and communications plans including stakeholder management, business readiness assessments, communication around benefits realisation and acceptance to ensure the business is supported and business objectives are achieved.

You will work with the Transformation and Business Excellence Team and the Communications Team to establish a change communication approach which is relevant to the project, ensuring employees are taken through the change curve to build awareness, understanding, engagement and empowerment

The position will have a high level of interaction across the organisation and will involve extensive, ongoing cooperation and coordination across all business units. This is very much a hands-on role that requires someone with significant energy and drive, as well as highly developed experience in facilitating productive relationships, delivering results and successfully driving change.

To be considered for this position you will have:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Change Management or other related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant experience at a senior level
  2. Demonstrated experience in leading large or organisation-wide change projects to deliver successful and significant business outcomes along with a demonstrated ability to identify, implement and review the change process to affect change
  3. Highly developed experience in creating and executing change management and communications strategies and plans that maximise employee adoption and minimise resistance
  4. Highly developed facilitation, presentation and communications skills including the preparation of communication materials and coaching and mentoring as required
  5. Highly developed prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple change activities with competing deadlines concurrently
  6. Demonstrated experience providing high level advice to the Project Manager, Project Sponsor, all levels of leadership up to and including the General Manager and key business stakeholders to enable fully informed and timely decision making

Salary: Employment is under the Local Government (State) Award. This position is placed in Grade 18 of Cumberland / Holroyd salary structure with a salary range of $1,790.95 to $2,059.57 per week plus superannuation. Commencement salary will depend upon qualifications, experience and competencies. If offered and accepted, the applicant will be transferred to the new position and the salary, terms & conditions will be negotiable.

Conditions of Employment: Fixed-term full-time position. This position will be initially located at Auburn, however there is the possibility that you may be working across Merrylands and/or Auburn worksites.
