About QIMR Berghofer:

About the Gordon and Jessie Gilmour Leukaemia Research Laboratory:

The Gordon and Jessie Gilmour Leukaemia Research  Laboratory is currently researching myeloid blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and the myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). 

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will operate under supervision of the head of the laboratory to provide core service support to the laboratory.  
Primary duties include: 

  • Management of in vivo drug trials including, monitoring of experimental mice, reconstitution and administration of drug compounds, tumour cell injection, blood sampling, tissue collection and processing
  • Culture and CRISPR-mediated genetic manipulation of primary murine cells and human cancer cell lines.
  • General cell and molecular biology including, flow cytometry, PCR, basic cloning, western blotting
  • A contribution to general laboratory management

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have a bachelors level qualification or higher in science or similar coupled with previous experience in animal experimentation and cell biology. You will have the capacity to contribute to several projects concurrently and have a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and reliable scientific records. You will be a team player who can integrate a contribution to general laboratory management within your experimental work load. This role will suit those that have a desire to contribute to research directly aimed at improving the outcomes of leukaemia patients.
