Geoscience Australia has over 150 Digital Products that enable our scientists to produce, process and share the nations geoscientific information. These products span from national bushfire monitoring systems to offshore petroleum management to earthquake and tsunami early detection.
These Digital Products are being continually improved by using modern and exciting IT solutions such as machine learning and cloud infrastructure with a strong drive towards automation. This capability provides government and industry with the high-quality data and a tool required for policy and investment decision, and equips the scientists at Geoscience Australia to continue developing their understanding of the countries geophysical nature.
These products are maintained through their lifecycle and improved by agile software development teams who work closely with scientists to provide innovative and specialised software development support. As a Software Developer within one of these teams, you will drive the development and enhancement of premier digital scientific products and software.

To be successful in the role you will:
- Have a passion for science, technology and continuous improvement
- Promote positive cultural change in the organisation through principles of DevOps, Agile, and Lean
- Have an unerring focus on value, delivery, and users
- Proactively identify risks and issues around feasibility, security, and architecture
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders from other divisions.
Experience in the following is essential:
- AngularJS and Angular;
- Javascript, HTML and CSS;
- DevOps;
- Source Control Systems;
Experience in any of the following technologies (or similar) would be desirable but is not required:
- Cloud; Java;
- Geoserver; Web Services; Spatial Web Mapping;
- GUI and UX design and development;
- Relational and/or non-relational databases;
- Modern software development practices;
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery;
