LOCAL LAWS OFFICER is needed for one of the fastest growing council to contribute to the success of the Community Development Directorate through active teamwork and effective performance of the responsibilities and duties of the position.  

As well as to ensure the achievement of the quality standards and performance indicators of the services within the Community Development Legislative Services Unit and effectively undertake enforcement and education of all matters relating to the Legislative Services Unit within the responsibilities and duties of the position.

 

Key Responsibilities   

•Undertake enforcement and education programs and activities aimed to achieve compliance with Council’s Local Laws.

•Implement Council’s animal control program and services, including enforcement to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

•Provide enforcement and educational services to ensure compliance with parking regulations and the safe operation and use of school crossing.

•Provide a positive personal contribution to the successful operation of the Community Development Directorate Legislative Services.

 

Specialist Skills and Knowledge

•Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation and an understanding of the underlying principles.

•Thorough knowledge of policy, local laws and precedent relating to the application of these in a community context.

•Knowledge of contract specification and specified work requirements.

•Working knowledge of court procedures and practices.

•Demonstrated skills in handling a diverse range of animals.

•Demonstrated skills in handling difficult, confronting and aggravated persons in the course of duty.
