About the Strategic Reform Branch
The Strategic Reform Branch (SRB) has been established to lead system-wide strategic reforms to support the long-term sustainability of health care in NSW. Key functions of the Branch include leading the development of:
• the strategic vision for health into the future and the realisation of this vision;
• shared system priorities;
• collaborative strategic relations within the health cluster and across government agencies; and
• purposeful measurement, analysis and economic appraisal of strategic priorities.

The Strategic Reform Branch is a fast-paced, collaborative environment and sees the team working with high level internal Ministry and external stakeholders. The Branch is driving an exciting and unprecedented period of innovation and change; and the position will form part of helping to shape the future direction of the NSW health system.


What you'll be doing
The Economics Analyst undertakes and supports a range of economic analysis, measurement and evaluation of reforms and associated strategic issues to inform the economic and resource implications of Health’s planned outcomes that align with broader Government objectives.

This role supports the development of outcomes within the suite of projects being undertaken to facilitate executive decision making.

Selection criteria - Required knowledge, skills and experience
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics or health economics or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
2. Demonstrated ability in using macro and micro economic tools in conducting economic appraisals, modelling and analysis and applying this to current and proposed systems for health care service delivery
3. Demonstrated high level analytical skills to undertake complex analyses using multiple data sources.
4. Proven ability to develop resourcing strategies and options at both a system wide and health service level
5. Proven ability to undertake projects utilizing project planning, prioritizing and time management skills within a multidisciplinary team environment
6. Strong verbal and written communications, interpersonal and negotiation skills
7. Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and external stakeholders to deliver projects
