In support of Delta Electricity’s core activity of generating electricity, we are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team located at Vales Point Power Station (Mannering Park).

Key responsibilities

• Undertake Contracts and Accounts Payable functions with preparation, analysis and input of creditor claims, within time constraints.
• Prepare, process and maintain registers for monthly accrual and general journals including accounting entries relating to fuel processing, cost reallocation and capitalisation.
• Coordinate the preparation of the Vales Point cost centre and project level annual budgets, reforecasts,
• Develop, control, manage and maintain the fixed asset accounting system and associated policies and procedures to ensure accurate recording of asset expenditure and depreciation schedules to meet accounting and taxation requirements.
• Reconcile and ensure accurate payroll deduction accounts, clearing accounts and payroll table files and develop and maintain financial practices, policies and procedures to support the accurate preparation of FBT and other payroll reporting requirements.
• Prepare and publish all financial information, insightful variance analysis and associated commentary for the Monthly Operations Review, contract reports, cost reports and other financial reports.
• Investigate financial variances, correct daily system and costing errors making corrections to the ledger and train staff to ensure accurate cost accounting in line with accounting standards and Delta’s internal accounting and cost classification policies.
• Reconcile balance sheet and other nominated accounts, ensuring the integrity of Delta’s management and statutory accounts. Provide and verify accounting processes with auditors as required.
• Administer and develop Delta’s budgeting and TM1 reporting system, including implementation of enhancements, control of system access, assisting users and liaising with external support.
• Act in the role of the Regional Finance Manager as required to cover periods of leave.

Selection criteria

• Relevant accounting qualifications at degree level or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
• Substantial  business and technical accounting knowledge and experience. At the upper level the incumbent would be expected to display extensive knowledge and experience in this area.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and advice staff on matters relating to financial policy and procedures.  At the upper level the incumbent would require substantial skills in this area.
• Well developed written and verbal communication skills including substantial report writing capability.
• Substantial computing skills in COGNOS, TM1, Microsoft Office suite and other major business reporting systems
