The role will manage the VRQA's vocational education and training (VET) regulatory functions along with industry engagement to support apprenticeship regulation. The VET function includes provider registration and course accreditation. Wider responsibilities include the recognition of Group Training Organisations and the determination of what qualifications are recognised under approved training schemes for apprenticeships/traineeships.
The role would work closely with the Department and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) in developing the government's recently announced Head Start initiative for students to complete their secondary schooling along with progressing towards an apprenticeship.
There is great scope for active stakeholder engagement in the role with policy makers, other regulatory bodies and industry representatives.
The ideal candidate would have experience in roles akin to regulation and management. Experience in the education sector is not a mandatory requirement as an experience regulator could learn the thematic area working with their experienced staff.
