The Construction Statistics Section is responsible for the production of building and construction related statistics, including the Building Approvals collection, the Building Activity Survey and Engineering Construction Survey. Our statistics directly input into the compilation of the quarterly National Accounts and are used by agencies like the Reserve Bank of Australia and The Treasury to inform and monitor strategic economic policy for Australia.
Various roles are available within our team - which one best matches your abilities?
- As a Team Leader you will lead the analysis, collection and compilation of current and new statistics related to housing and construction.
- As a Lead Statistical Analyst you will provide specialist advice and leadership on the evaluation of current data holdings and the development of new statistical products and research.
- As a Statistical Officer you will assist in analysis of current and potential data holdings; lead the direct collection of new data from providers; and assist in the compilation and development of new statistics related to housing and construction, as well as potential research into zoning, land use and housing affordability.
Key Qualities, Experience and Skills
You should apply if you are a highly motivated person who can demonstrate most or all of the following:
- assist in or lead the compilation and development of new statistics related to housing, building and construction
- experience in data analysis & modelling
- ability to engage with clients
- lead the direct collection of new data from providers
- ability to lead or work within a team or across multiple teams to support the delivery of statistical outputs
- a background in statistics, housing, economics, mathematics or computer science (depending on the role) will be advantageous
