Roads are crucial  to the movement of freight that enable Victoria’s economy to thrive, playing a key role in jobs growth, productivity, economic development and community connectedness.

The Spray Line Road Services Group is a unique team within VicRoads. It is a commercial business unit responsible for the delivery of high quality bituminous sealing, line marking, construction, road maintenance and emergency response works throughout Victoria.

Based at our Bendigo depot, we are seeking applications for a motivated and experienced Road Worker to a full time ongoing role. Working as part of a diverse and highly capable team delivering civil works within the region key aspects of this position will include:

DRIVING
• Use of 8 – 10 tonne depot truck or tractor/loader

STANDING, WALKING, RUNNING, CLIMBING:
• Traffic controller duties – involving prolonged periods of standing
• Prolonged walking/running – placing traffic lane closures, litter collection, grass mowing
• Working on feet for the majority of the day – prolonged periods walking/standing
• Working on hard surfaces such as concrete and asphalt for prolonged periods

LIFTING, HANDLING, HOLDING
• Loading/unloading signs/equipment/material on/off truck
• Sign erection – involving lifting and holding signs above shoulder height
• Lifting concrete stormwater pit lids
• Filling, lifting and placing sand bags 15kg, cement bags 20kg
• Handling/operating equipment in confined/awkward positions
• Steel reinforcement fixing – repetitive twisting of hand/wrist to tie reinforcement in place
• Removing dead animals (such as kangaroos)

USE OF TOOLS
• Digging/Shovelling
• Brooms/sweeping
• Crow bar
• Jack Hammers
• Electric drills
• Angle grinders
• Chainsaws
• Brush-cutters
• Sledge hammers
• Backpack poison spray 15 - 20kg
• Compaction Plate / Wacker rammer
• Concrete trowelling/screeding


Successful applicants will:
• Never compromise the health and safety of yourself or those around you; including members of the public and other stakeholders;
• Have previous experience in civil construction and maintenance i.e. asphalting, concreting. Candidates ideally will hold current White Card, Traffic Control ticket, First Aid Level 2 and at minimum MR manual license
• Have operated construction/heavy machinery including excavators, bobcats etc.
• Possess good communication skills and be willing to work effectively as part of a team
• Have at minimum basic computer literacy skills
• Be flexible and adaptable with regards to working hours and working conditions

All successful candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical and drivers license check.
