KBR Australia has been engaged in working with Defence in Australia for over 20 years and has developed core competencies in systems engineering, systems and enterprise architecture, project management and integrated logistics support, to provide technical and management assistance to a wide range of defence projects.
Our Government Services division is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong maritime background, to join our project team in providing platform engineering support to the RAN Landing Helicopter Dock ships. The successful candidate will have experience in the Defence environment with particular expertise in the sustainment of major naval surface vessels. The successful applicant will be based at Garden Island in Sydney.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking technical investigations;
- Preparing engineering reports;
- Raising and progressing engineering change proposal documentation in accordance with the clients process;
- Assist with reviewing engineering design tasks for replacement of marine equipment and conduct technical design reviews;
- Assist with preparation and/or review of work instructions and maintenance schedules;
- Working under the instruction of the project supervisor to complete engineering tasks as required, contributing to mechanical engineering projects;
- Providing input into preparation of expressions of interest and bids relating to mechanical engineering;
- Designing and documenting work to a high standard, including work on engineering reports and contract documents;
- Completing work within negotiated standards of time, cost and quality;
- Displaying an appropriate balance of practicality and innovation in your work.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline
- 5+ years in a Maritime Defence environment
- An existing or previously held Australian Government Security Clearance
- Must be an Australian citizen (mandatory)
