We currently have an opportunity for a 6 month fixed term contract/acting/secondment, with option for a further 6 month extension and/or permanency.

The position

In this role you will be working within the Legal Services Directorate. Your clients will be the mines safety, dangerous goods safety, and petroleum safety areas of the Department.

You will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical legal advice, concerning a broad range of legal issues. These include statutory investigative powers, criminal procedure and evidentiary issues relating to mines safety investigations and prosecutions. You will assist senior lawyers, including counsel, in complex matters and have the opportunity to conduct your own matters.

You will value and leverage the specialist expertise and the skills of others, and contribute your own expertise to achieve outcomes for the team.

This position is located in East Perth. However, you may be required to work at other sites.

What do you require to successfully undertake the role?

  • Degree in law and admitted or eligible to be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of court processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing legal advice on a broad range of legal matters.
