The Project Support Officers support the planning, implementation and review of key projects delivered by the Community Planning and Development section of the Community and Culture Group.

A key function of the position involves supporting staff within the Community Development and Planning Unit to actively deliver community development and participatory engagement programs and services that align with Council’s Community Strategic Plan.

The Project Support Officers will undertake a range of tasks which may involve the following focus areas:

  • Planning, promoting and supporting of a range of programs and activities delivered such as community engagement activities.
  • Duties may include set-up of equipment, direct delivery of services and/or supervision of the delivery of programs. This may include out of hours work - evenings and weekends.  
    Assisting in the facilitation and/or coordination of internal and external stakeholder meetings for projects.
  • Performing a range of administrative, organisational and financial tasks, including maintaining information systems, developing key documents including promotional material, data entry and analysis, ordering supplies, record keeping and general office duties with attention to detail.
  • Prepare reports and attend to correspondence as appropriate.
  • Effectively manage time, set priorities and undertake delegated tasks autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure the delivery of quality customer service in all dealings with the community.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in the planning, delivery and evaluation of community development projects and/or community engagement/project management/social research.
  • High level administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced customer service and community liaison skills, including the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised to deliver a diverse range of activities or services.
  • Current Working with Children Number or ability to obtain.
  • Willingness and availability to work to a roster Monday - Thursday or Tuesday to Friday.
  • Current national criminal record check or willingness to obtain

Shifts are 9.30am - 5pm, although you may be expected on occasion to take minutes for council advisory meetings. You can start later on these days to stick to the 7 hour work day.

Pay is $37.95 p.h + super

This is a 3 month temporary position with possible extension.
