How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

You will be responsible for the planning, organising and delivery of high quality building projects outcomes ensuring they are delivered on time, to budget and within the scope and to the quality established within project briefs.  Projects assigned to this role are in the medium to large size in complexity including heritage works, roofing upgrades and public facility fit outs requiring high level project management skill across the full spectrum of project functions. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior members of the team.

 

As a member of the Assets (Buildings) project management team, your role will be to focus on project establishment and ongoing guidance across the life of the project; this includes project governance, project vision, programming and budgeting, procurement, managing consultants, technical due diligence, feasibility planning and development, stakeholder engagement, construction and handover.

 

You will have proven stakeholder management skills and experience, which you will use to effectively manage project risks with support and input from the Principal Project Manager – Assets (Buildings). You will be required to deliver multiple projects up to an annual total annual budget of up to $6m. In this role you will be accountable for the development and delivery of assigned projects, and will support the effective collaboration of design and project management delivery team members within the City Design Studio to ensure project vision and objectives are maintained.

  • High level relationship building and stakeholder management skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders with a broad range of expectations and client needs which are often of a competing nature
  • Experience in project management delivery including development and management of medium value, complex projects in a large and diverse organisation with proven ability to concurrently manage multiple projects on time, to budget and to client satisfaction within a structured reporting framework
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and a demonstrated understanding of standard forms of construction contracts and building industry practices
  • Proven ability to manage a project team of external consultants and contractors ensuring high level performance and taking decisive corrective action when necessary
  • Highly developed analytical, lateral thinking and problem solving skills and the ability to take the initiative, drive change and continual improvement
  • High level communication skills with the ability to convey and effectively impart project nformation and negotiate and influence outcomes
  • Ability to work within a high pressure environment and effectively managing multiple priorities within a complex environment.
