About the Opportunity


A consortium consisting of EY, the First Peoples Disability Network, the Community Services Industry Alliance and Advanced Personnel Management have been selected by the Department of Social Services (DSS) to design and deliver the Boosting the Local Care Workforce Program.

 

The Specialist Regional Coordinators is reasonable for providing a national approach to disability sector market issues and respond to aged care reform. Each Specialist Regional Coordinators will have a special focus in their role. There will be up to eight Specialist Coordinator focus areas, including:

  • NDIS providers that assist high support needs clients
  • Workforce planning and development for NDIS and aged care, including utilising government employment Programs and services
  • Engaging with financial intermediaries and issues related to Specialist disability accommodation providers and developers
  • Accessing allied health providers of value to NDIS and aged care and self-employed professionals/positive behaviour support practitioners
  • Self-managing NDIS participants who are not fully utilising their supports or are having difficulty in engaging providers
  • Encouraging more Indigenous owned organisations to register as NDIS or aged care providers, and adding to the business skills of NDIS, health and aged care specialist Indigenous services
  • Opportunities for disability and aged care collaboration within a local catchment, including recruitment and providing increased hours of work and prospective career paths
  • Supporting market development in remote areas (in collaboration with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet)

We are seeking people with a background in health services, aged care or similar, with specific experience in the disability sector, or similar service delivery programs.


Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following required experience:

  • Subject matter knowledge ? candidates must possess extensive knowledge and experience related to at least one of the eight focus areas listed above.
  • Communication skills ? candidates will require effective communication skills to liaise with local providers and state and territory program officials.
  • Insight and analysis ? candidates will be required to draw on data and insights gained from service providers on the ground to provide advice on priorities which should be targeted through the National Provider and Sector Transition Initiative.
  • Knowledge ? candidates will have a good working knowledge of the disability and aged care sectors; a good working knowledge about regional areas of employment; a working knowledge of NDIS and workforce issues that are relevant
Successful applicants may likely be expected to engage in home based working as part of their role.
